What is the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Procurement Program?
5% of all prime contracts should go to small business concerns owned by women according to The Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act of 1994 (P.L.103-355) (FASA). The WOSB Procurement Program has a required goal set by law, but there are no set-aside procurement programs or incentives for awarding a contract to a woman-owned small business. SBA is actively working to foster women's share of the Federal marketplace. At SBA we are implementing initiatives that will help increase women's share of the Federal procurement dollars, and we are actively searching for new and innovative methods. Because of the 5 percent procurement goal for women established by FASA, agencies have a strong incentive to look for qualified women-owned businesses when filling contractual needs. Do I Need To Get Certified?
The federal government does not require that your business be certified as a woman-owned business, as there are not specific set-aside programs for women. They do have a goal of giving a certain amount of government contracts to women-owned businesses, but you can "self-certify" that your company is woman-owned. But prime contractors who give out sub-contracting opportunities may require an official certification. The Women's Business Enterprise National Council is one of several non-profits that certifies a business as women-owned. They state that this certification can be an important marketing aspect for your company. Many corporations are striving for diversity in the procurement process. To become certified, your business must go through a rigorous process, and there are some fees involved. In addition the Council offers a wealth of sourcing tools, and a database of certified women's businesses for use by purchasing managers. Start A Business While On Unemployment
Self-Employment Assistance is designed to encourage and enable unemployed workers to create their own jobs by starting their own small businesses. States can pay a self-employed allowance, instead of regular unemployment insurance benefits, to help unemployed workers while they are establishing businesses and becoming self-employed. Participants receive weekly allowances while they are getting their businesses off the ground. This is a voluntary program for States and, to date, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania have Self Employment Assistance programs. Generally in order to receive these benefits, an individual must first be eligible to receive regular unemployment insurance under the State law. A microenterprise is generally thought of as having 5 or fewer employees, and requires less than $35,000 in initial capital. According to the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), there 24 million microenterprises in the United States, representing 87% of all businesses. Money For Low-Income People To Start Business
The Job Opportunities for Low-Income Individuals (JOLI) is a program whose purpose is to create new jobs to be filled by low-income individuals. The ultimate goal is economic self-sufficiency. A minimum of twenty percent of the total JOLI funds must be used toward the provision of direct financial assistance to participants. Financial assistance may be provided through the use of revolving loan funds or the provision of direct cash assistance to a micro enterprise or self-employed business owner. Beneficiaries are TANF recipients and other low-income individuals whose income level does not exceed 100 percent of the official Federal poverty guidelines. Training is the business buzzword for the year. Almost every state has money to help companies in their state train new or existing employees. Actually, the money can be used by women in almost any kind of transportation-related business. One ideology is the sudden freedom that you would gain the ability to do anything, take a vacation, take a day off, just go fishing or kick the ball around. If you are looking for a good affiliate program for web hosting, DO NOT pin your hopes on this company. A friend of mine did- she sold 7 accounts to classmates of hers, and almost lost them until she could document and prove that she actually spoke to the people.

But the latest kick in the head came recently. Her commissions were way up- into the $5000 range. Then, Start Logic sent her the following email:

"Dear {name deleted},
Thank you for contacting StartLogic technical support.

I'm afraid we have some disappointing news on this front. You probably realised there was a remarkable spike in your affiliate sales. That raised flags in our accounting department, and on further investigation, we discovered that they were all due to a salesman here who had apparently not cleared his browser out, and as a result, all his subsequent sales were being mistakenly credited to your affiliate.
We've confirmed this using the IP address which uniquely identifies the computer used to place the orders, and they all track back to the same location. Unfortunately, as a result, they do not qualify as legitimate affiliate sales, and so we are unable to process payment for these. I apologize very deeply for any inconvenience this may cause, and we have taken appropriate action to prevent any re-occurrence. Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

First of all, they are lying to her, no way that is true! How did this "sales rep" get her cookie?
Even if he did, how did it get applied to phone orders?

And, why did they have to research by IP? How come the sales rep didn't have his ID on them from him entering them in to the system?

I do customer service work for a living, and every order I enter or every time I even touch an account to render customer service, it is branded with my user ID and the time.

This is especially "low" for this company to do because this woman's husband is dying, and she is the sole support of the household right now. They house they have been renting has been sold. This money would have paid for a new place to live, but now it is gone.

So I want to issue this warning to all aspiring affiliate marketers. This company will steal your commissions. Do not waste your time and your space on your virtual real estate!
